Tag Games is now a Scopely Studio!

We are excited to announce that Tag Games has joined the Scopely ecosystem!

From the Scopely.com blog

”One of our ongoing objectives at Scopely is to explore acquisition opportunities to bring additional best-in-class teams into our operating system, and the talent at Tag Games is perfectly aligned with this ambition.

Scopely is home to a dynamic ecosystem of world-class gamemakers, creating exceptional game experiences around the world. Scopely game teams include internal Scopely Studios and/or external partner studios that collaborate with a unique single team approach, where the traditional boundaries between developer and publisher are eliminated. Scopely is highly committed to building game teams with incredible talent density, inviting the world’s best gamemakers to create together! Both internal Scopely Studios and partner studios benefit from Scopely’s publishing infrastructure, operating system, and proprietary technology platform Playgami™, which offers a range of products, enabling teams to create games players love and grow them as great businesses.

In 2021, we partnered with Tag Games, a fantastic team based in Dundee, Scotland. Tag, who recently celebrated its 17th anniversary, has worked with leading publishers on more than 60 games since its founding in 2006

To collaborate even more deeply, both Scopely and Tag Games leadership felt it was the ideal time to fully join forces, and believe this combined entity will make us all even stronger. Tag shares our vision to create extremely meaningful, dynamic experiences for players and represents outstanding passion and expertise in game making. We can’t wait to see what more we can do together.

With this acquisition, more than 60 employees join Scopely in Scotland.

Welcome to the Scopely adventure, Tag Games!”

6 Things We’ve Learned About Running a Successful Game Studio

As Tag celebrates it’s 15th birthday, we take a look at some of the lessons we’ve learned over the years…

We’ve just reached the 15th anniversary of our founding. It’s been a remarkable journey of growth, creativity, and working with some of the world’s best game studios.

When we started we were a team of three with some big ideas. A decade-and-a-half on and we’re a team of over 50 with dozens of game projects under our belts. We’ve seen new staff rise through the ranks to become respected industry voices, and have had the pleasure of becoming deeply connected with the local community here in Dundee; a city we sincerely adore.

Hiring at Tag: A Team Effort

At Tag we know that when you start a new role in games, you don’t only join a company; you become part of a team.

Your role isn’t just a job title or the work product you’re responsible for creating - it’s about the people you work with, and how effectively you all work together. More than that, it’s about your immediate team; the colleagues you collaborate with directly or most frequently. And that’s as true in a world of remote working as it is in times when we share studio space.

Of course, any role in a games company is about getting the job done well. But working with people you connect with professionally and personally both serves the wellbeing of the entire team and delivers better results. At Tag, we try to build teams that not only work well together but enjoy doing so at the same time.

Toys of Tag

The space around us is so important to how we work. Our desks are a place where we can express ourselves and feel at home - and that’s definitely the case here at Tag.

We love seeing our teams furnish their desks with toys, decorations, mementos and other knick-knacks. It brings character and colour to Tag workspaces, making them more creative, inspiring and fun places to be. But importantly, giving our teams the freedom to establish a working environment that suits and reflects them means happier staff.

So we asked our staff to share the objects that surround their working spaces, and the reasons they keep them close at hand when they help us make great games.
