Life in Dundee
We're proud to live and work in a vibrant city in the heart of one of the world's most beautiful countries. Whether it's buzzing nightlife or the great outdoors you're after, Dundee has something for you.
Dundee was described as Britain’s “Coolest Little City” by GQ magazine. Traditionally famous for the three "Js" - jute, jam and journalism, today the city is a destination for culture, food, and art. V&A Dundee opened in 2018, and is Scotland’s first design museum and a ground-breaking centre for design innovation. It is the first building in Britain to be designed by Kengo Kuma, the renowned Japanese architect now designing the Tokyo 2020 Olympic stadium.
From the birth of The Beano comic in the 1930s, to the thriving arts and digital media scene today, a creative buzz runs through this UNESCO City of Design.
Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design is an integral part of the University of Dundee. It is ranked as one of the top schools of art and design in the United Kingdom and has an outstanding reputation in teaching, practice, and research.
From here you can also explore the stunning Highlands and Scottish countryside, go hiking, and even skiing.
The major Scottish cities of Glasgow and Edinburgh are little more than an hour away from Dundee, offering a wealth of nightlife and culture, including, of course, Edinburgh International Festival!
