Last week, a study by games industry trade body TIGA, found the Scottish games industry had grown by a massive 27% in 2017. With 1,540 working directly in game development and 2,814 working for companies that indirectly support the industry, this makes a grand total of just over 4300 games professionals working in Scotland.

Now that 2017 is done and dusted our thoughts turn to welcoming in another New Year we are offered the chance to look back and reflect on what has been another fun, yet challenging year at Tag Games and one which has seen the wider games industry undergo further change and disruption.

It’s been an interesting twelve months at Tag Towers - 2017 has taken us both to prison and a beauty shop with a few other interesting locations along the way! Here’s a trio of our top moments from 2017.

After a fantastic night at Abertay University we're delighted to confirm Ant Workshop as winners of the final Big Indie Pitch of 2017! Edinburgh-based Tony Gowland and his team took top prize after delivering a top-class pitch for Dead End Job, a twin-stick style shooter with a unique art style inspired by classic 90s cartoons such as Ren and Stimpy.

After an almost flawless start to the season October and November have been trickier months for the team. However as we head into winter Rovers are still just three points from the SPFL League One summit and still on course to roar back into the Championship at the first attempt. Whilst results haven't always gone our way lately there's still been some great performances and for us one player has stood out over the past few weeks, Dario Zanatta.
