Studio Manager

Tag Games seeks an experienced, talented and motivated Studio Manager to guide and drive the work of our Dundee based internal development teams. Reporting directly to the Managing Director we seek a creative leader with a strong production background who will play a key role in enabling Tag to become a global leader in mobile and social game development.

The ideal candidate will have extensive game development experience, refined communication skills, an obsessive level of attention to detail, a passion for making the best games, and the ability to deliver to plan with minimal oversight.

Responsibilities
  • Full responsibility for the development cycle of all internal titles, including concept pitch, pre-production, production, quality assurance, certification, release, and localization.
  • Management of internal teams to define milestones and schedules and validate deliverables.
  • Manage client relationships, providing clear, concise and regular communication of development progress and rapid solutions to current or predicted issues.
  • Build strong development and support teams enabling the successful delivery of games on time, on budget and to the highest quality standards.
  • mprove the effectiveness of current development processes whilst implementing required changes/additions.
  • Lead regular employee appraisal, review and objective setting.
Skills
  • Excellent project management and pitch communication skills, preferably gained in a blue-chip, quality-driven environment or within the Games Industry, and be able to apply that knowledge in a results driven, creative environment.
  • Specific experience with major project management packages such as MS Project and Excel is a must, and any knowledge of others will be a plus.
  • A great motivator, who can inspire and lead others through example whilst maintaining a positive and energetic approach to all aspects of the role.
Experience
  • Candidates will ideally have at least 4 years of experience in the games industry with at least 3 years in a senior project management, producer or studio head position.
  • Produced at least 2 large scale console titles to delivery or a number of smaller projects.

Junior/Graduate Game Programmer

The Junior Game Programmer will be a passionate and skilled individual with outstanding skills in a variety of programming environments. The role will involve the development of downloadable games across a variety of platforms including iPhone, Android, J2ME mobile, PC and console and therefore an understanding of development in J2ME and/or C++ is required. The Junior Game Programmer must work closely with other team members to ensure high standards of game-play and coding standards are maintained across each project and show both ambition and good self management skills.

  • Good degree in computer science or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of development tools and techniques relating to game development.
  • Experience of game development using J2ME and/or C++.
  • Experience of objective C / iPhone development a distinct advantage.
  • Strong maths and 3D programming skills a distinct advantage.
  • Ability to work both individually and as part of a team.
  • Basic knowledge of game design and development.

Candidates will ideally be able to able to provide both 2D and 3D game demos. No previous games experience required.

Senior Artist

The Senior Artist will be a highly talented and motivated individual with a track record of excellence on at least one previous title. Equally adept at 2D and 3D art creation the Senior Artist will be responsible for leading all aspects of art asset creation on a project.

Tag’s high standards of game-play and presentation must be maintained by working closely with the other team members leading them by example and liaising closely with management. The candidate must be flexible and willing to work either alone or leading small teams.

  • Excellent 2D pixel art skills.
  • Outstanding ability in modelling and texturing for 3D within tight technical guidelines.
  • Detailed experience with the standard software tools used in the production of both 2D and 3D game art.
  • Animation, lighting and rendering skills a distinct advantage.
  • Good knowledge of asset optimization techniques.
  • Self motivating with high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both individually and lead small teams.
  • Extensive knowledge of game design and development.

Candidates will ideally have 3+ years of experience working in both 2D and 3D on console, handheld, mobile or casual titles and hold a relevant qualification in the visual arts.
